Investigative Journalism at the BBC

I’ve written a piece about the BBC’s record in investigative journalism for the Power and the Media strand over at Open Democracy. You can read it here.

And another thing, don’t you think it’s about time you bought my book, hmmm?

It really is exceptionally good.

hi, Francis. I’ve just tried it and it does seem to work. Not sure what’s happening, but if you google the words – Dan Hind Open Democracy BBC – you’ll find the article, I think.

I thought it was beautifully written and extremely persuasive about the need to find a way to talk about the common good.

But like many people who want to see the restoration of something resembling the postwar social democratic order he doesn’t offer much in the way of a program for doing it (much less for avoiding the problems with that settlement, problems he himself is aware of).

I don’t finally think that the people who benefit from the existing order will be able to think their way through to the need to share their power and privilege. The motive force for change will have to come from outside the governing and investing classes – that is something that Judt doesn’t seem to register in Ill Fares the Land.

An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a friend who had been conducting a little research on this. And he in fact bought me lunch simply because I discovered it for him… lol. So let me reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending the time to talk about this topic here on your internet site.
